Towards a Modern Communications API

چکیده
We contend that a new networking API could better serve the needs of dataand service-oriented applications, and could more easily map to heterogeneous environments, than the pervasive Sockets API does. In this paper, we present an initial design of a networking API based on the publish/subscribe paradigm, along with an exploration of its security implications, examples to demonstrate several common use cases, and a discussion of how the implementation of such an API could leverage a wide range of networking technologies. We propose this model not as a final design but as the first step towards a wider community discussion of the need for a modern

Development Approaches for an International Tactical Radio Cryptographic Api
Currently, there are no internationally available application programming interfaces (APIs) for the embedded cryptographic module of modern tactical radios which comply with the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Software Communications Architecture (SCA). We survey relevant, internationally released documents including recommendations from the SDR Forum Security Working Group, publicly release...
متن کاملSpecification of Generic APIs, or: Why Algebraic May Be Better then Pre/Post
Specification based on Floyd-Hoare logic, using pre and postconditions, is common in languages aimed at high integrity software. Such pre/postcondition specifications are geared towards verification of code. While this specification technique has proven quite successful in the past 40 years, it has limitations when applied to API specification, particularly specification of generic interfaces. ...
متن کاملHardware Design, Synthesis, and Verification of a Multicore Communications API
Modern trends in computer architecture and semiconductor scaling are leading towards the design of chips with more and more processor cores. Highly concurrent hardware and software architectures are inevitable in future systems. One of the greatest problems in these systems is communication. Providing coherence, consistency, synchronization, and sharing of data in a multicore system requires th...
متن کاملTowards Standardized Patient Data Exchange: Integrating a FHIR Based API for the Open Medical Record System
Interoperability is essential to address limitations caused by the ad hoc implementation of clinical information systems and the distributed nature of modern medical care. The HL7 V2 and V3 standards have played a significant role in ensuring interoperability for healthcare. FHIR is a next generation standard created to address fundamental limitations in HL7 V2 and V3. FHIR is particularly rele...
متن کاملTowards a Formal Security Analysis of the Sevecom API
Sevecom 1 was an EU 6th Framework project aimed at defining “a consistent and futureproof solution to the problem of Vehicular communications VC [Vehicular communications]/IVC [Inter-Vehicular Communications] security”. An early conclusion of the project was that the solution must include the use of a tamper-resistant cryptographic device on board the vehicle. Indeed, the design of such a devic...
